Positive thinking can feel artificial, or like it isn't helping. Keep in mind that when you first start out, the conscious, rational, positive thoughts are having to compete against the weight of your built up, unconscious, irrational, negative thoughts.
Keep at it and eventually the good will outweigh the bad, even when you aren't actively trying to stay positive.
